Master Jim McDonald Kudan (9th degree black belt) began Isshin-ryu Karate in 1971, his instructors included Grand Master Harold Long, J.C. Burris, and Phil McElroy at the Nashville Dojo. The Nashville Dojo is famous for its high caliber fighters and Master McDonald earned his place with the best of best by being a skilled, hard hitting, and innovative fighter. Master McDonald most notable wins included the Grand championship of the 1975 & 1978 National Isshin-ryu Karate Championship, and he placed 1st Place & 3rd in the Southeast Championship.
A decorated veteran of the Vietnam War, Master McDonald graduated from the Hendersonville High School, Falls Business College, and Vol State.
Master McDonald was inducted into the prestigious Isshin-ryu Hall of Fame in 1991.
